Day Support Activities (DSA) supports people in the community and happen during scheduled, intentional, structured activities in a nonresidential setting. Services include:

  • Support with community participation

  • Acquire, retain, and improve skills to use available community resources

  • Improve self-awareness and self-control

  • Support with communication

  • Assisting people in acquiring, retaining, and improving expressive and receptive skills in verbal and non-verbal language

  • Social responsiveness

  • Interpersonal skills development

  • Build and strengthen relationships between family members, friends, and members of the local community

  • Explore interests, culture, talent, and gifts that can shared with others with similar interests

  • Provide opportunities for people to do things they enjoy as well as new and interesting things that involve the broader community

At North Star Oregon, we come out with a monthly activity schedule that may include activities such as: art classes, bowling, volunteering, or going on different community outings such as going to local events, to the beach, to the mall, or to the park. Currently, we have a group that meets in Albany and a group that meets in Corvallis. There is a centralized meeting spot, however some transportation can be provided depending on the availability of drivers as well as the location of pick up/drop off.  DSA groups run from  10 AM - 3 PM, Monday through Saturday. It is up to the individual as well as available openings as to how many days a week that the individual attends.
