Our name comes from the North Star, the fixed point travelers have used to find their way home for as long as people have been finding their way anywhere. It’s a good name for what we try to be: steady, dependable, easy to find when you need your bearings.

But here’s something worth knowing about the North Star. It has never been the brightest star in the sky. It matters because it’s constant. And it has never once hung there alone.

Every day, the individuals we support go out and live their lives: learning a bus route, showing up to a job, making art, ordering their own coffee, keeping a promise to a friend. Ordinary things, with their own meaning and purpose. That’s what an everyday star is. Not someone extraordinary once, but someone who shows up, again and again.

And every day, our direct support professionals (DSPs) do the steady, mostly invisible work that helps make those days fuller: the early mornings, the patience, the hundredth practice run, the celebration when it clicks. That work rarely gets noticed outside the room it happens in. It happens quietly, one unremarkable Tuesday at a time.
