Disability Support Agency Serving Linn County

Linn County is the largest county by area in Oregon's Willamette Valley, stretching from the valley floor near Albany east into the Cascade Range. With a population of approximately 133,000, the county includes the cities of Albany (the county seat), Lebanon, Sweet Home, Harrisburg, Brownsville, and a string of smaller communities along the Santiam corridors. For individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities living anywhere in this wide-ranging county, North Star Oregon provides in-home attendant care and Day Support Activities close to home.

Disability services in Linn County are coordinated through the Linn County Developmental Disabilities Program (the local CDDP), located at 315 4th Ave SW, Albany, OR 97321. You can reach them at 541-967-3890. The CDDP handles eligibility determination, service coordination, and case management for children and adults with I/DD throughout the county. If you already work with a Linn County service coordinator, North Star Oregon can plug in directly. If you are new to the system, we will help you navigate the steps.

Linn County is distinctive because North Star Oregon operates two DSA locations here — one in Albany and one in Tangent — more than any other single county in our service area. Combined with countywide in-home attendant care, Linn County residents have access to the broadest set of North Star Oregon services of any county we serve.

Our Services Across Linn County

Our Services Across Linn County

North Star Oregon offers both of our core service lines in Linn County, with particular depth in Day Support Activities: **In-home attendant care** is available throughout all of Linn County. Whether you live in Albany, Lebanon, Sweet Home, Harrisburg, Brownsville, Scio, Mill City, Lyons, Halsey, or any other Linn County community, our attendant care workers come to your home. **Day Support Activities (DSA)** are available at two locations in Linn County: - **Albany DSA** — Serving individuals in and around Albany, the county's largest city. - **Tangent DSA** — Located in Tangent, just south of Albany, providing an additional option for individuals in the southern part of the county. Having two DSA locations in one county means shorter commutes and more scheduling flexibility for Linn County families. Residents of Lebanon, Sweet Home, and other eastern communities can choose the location that works best for their transportation and schedule.

In-Home Attendant Care Across Linn County

In-home attendant care serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout all of Linn County. For people living in their own homes or with family, attendant care provides one-on-one support with daily living tasks, personal care, skill building, and community access. Services are funded through Oregon's K-Plan and coordinated through your Linn County CDDP service coordinator.

Linn County covers over 2,290 square miles — the most of any Willamette Valley county — ranging from the flat agricultural land around Albany, Tangent, and Harrisburg to the foothills and mountain communities of Sweet Home, Mill City, Lyons, and beyond. Distances matter here. A family in Sweet Home is 30 miles from Albany; a family in Mill City is over 40. North Star Oregon's in-home model is designed for exactly this kind of geography. Our support workers travel to where our clients live, and we prioritize consistency so that the same familiar person shows up each time.

  • Personal care and daily living support
  • Skill building toward greater independence
  • Community access and social engagement
  • Assistance with medical appointments and errands
  • Companionship and consistent, familiar support

Day Support Activities in Linn County

Linn County is unique in the North Star Oregon service area: it is the only county where we operate two Day Support Activities (DSA) locations. Our Albany DSA and Tangent DSA programs both offer structured group activities focused on community engagement, skill development, social connection, and personal growth for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

**Albany DSA** is centrally located in the county seat, making it accessible for participants from Albany, Millersburg, and northern Linn County communities. **Tangent DSA** is located just south of Albany along Highway 99E, and may be a convenient choice for individuals traveling from the Harrisburg, Halsey, or Brownsville areas.

DSA programming includes a rotating calendar of activities — community outings, volunteer projects, recreation, life skills workshops, and more. Check our DSA calendar for upcoming sessions, or contact us to visit either location and see the program firsthand.
